1-Wire Network Tester
In building my 1-Wire Network, I found that the Cat5 cable wiring was giving me the most problems and in particular the reliability of the crimp connectors. To allow me to rapidly test the cables, I built a simply tester which connects onto the end of the network.
Basically, it put a 'device' across each pair of pins:
- Pins 1 and 2 = Green LED (with 180 ohm resistor in series) to test 5V supply.
- Pins 3 and 6 = Red LED (with 1 Kohm resistor in series) to test pin3 GND. Pin 6 is connected to +12V at the first node only.
- Pins 4 and 5 = a DS2401.
- Pins 7 and 8 = 12V flashing red LED.
