Most of spare time in May was taken up preparing my son's Eunos Roadster
for our Le Mans 24 trip.
His car was well behaved on the trip :-) Despite having done 132,000+ miles.

Finally found the time to get the R1 engine out of my Fury! I'd forgotten all the steps required to do this because it's been such a long time. This time I took lots of notes.

Finally got the engine out. It's quite easily lifted by two people. It's an awkward shape for one.

Removing the stator/rotor cover reveals the rotor (a spinning magnet) which sits over the stator (some stationary coils). Looking through the holes, I can clearly see one of the coils is toast.
The centre bolt can only be undone if the stator is stationary but it spins. It's also a shiny object covered in oil, so getting a grip on it is very hard. Fortunately, there are tools to do this and I've ordered one.
The rotor is also held on to a tapered shaft, so it needs to be popped off using a puller. I've also ordered one of these. It's a special size with a 16 x 1.5mm thread. Some people use a Fiat Duplo van wheel stud to do this job apparently.

The pulley locking tool arrived. This has a number of different sized 'prongs' and one set is 12mm in diamter, which is perfect for this application.

Using the tool made it really easy to undo the central nut :-) I'm still waiting for the puller tool to arrive.
