With the magnet in place it is difficult to see what state the stator coils are in. With the magnet out of the way it is clear that some of the coils have over heated and look damaged. Measuring the resistances as before showed them to be: Pins 1-2 = 1.56Ω, pins 2-3 = 0.27Ω, pins 1-2 = 1.7Ω.

The new stator coils are held in place by three Torx T30 6mm x 35mm bolts. These were done up really tightly and a challenge to undo. The new stator coils look slightly different all the dimensions are the same.

One loosened, the magnet is still quite hard to pull off as it is very magnetic.

When fitting the new stator coils, you need to be very carefult to get the cable positioning right as there is very little clearance. Note the angle of the top clip to keep the wires out of the way of any moving parts.

The cover was cleaned up to remove any traces of the old gasket and a new one fitted.
