This month is all about getting the car back together and the engine in. I'm doing a complete overhaul of everything in the engine bay though and touching up the chassis where the powder coat has cracked. Checking over the suspension bolts and parts too.

Fitted the new radiator today. Not as simply as I'd hoped because the mounting brackets are in slightly different places. This essentially means the new radiator is 13mm taller than the old one. Everything has been repainted where required, including the horns and all brackets.

I've replaced a lot of bolts too or cleaned them up and painted the heads. Just about ready for the engine to go in now.
I've also replaced a few coolant hoses, where they look a bit tired. The new ones are blue, so it is clear which ones have been replaced.
The M8 x 45mm bolts (1.25mm thread pitch) that hold the prop on to the propshaft adapter are also being replaced. These have a lot of tension put into them, so that they don't work loose.

The old R1 header tank looked dirty inside. I cleaned up the outside up and filled the inside with bleach to clean that out too. Looks like new :-)
Lots more preparation in the engine bay. Cleaning and painting. Refitted all the suspension bolts.
More good progress to day:
Time to see if she will start! I removed the spark plugs and disconnected the coils. I disconnected the fuel pump too. After about 20 seconds cranking over, I started to see some oil pressure register. Having reconnected the fuel pump and put the spark plugs back in, she fired up after a few seconds and sounds smooth :-)
And the new alternator has definately improved things. I was seeing just a lot of variation between 12.0V and 12.6V on the Digidash before and now it is reading a consistent 14.5V at tickover.
Did something today that I've never done with my Fury. I declared it as SORN because of the Covid 19 lock down, which meant I can't get it an MOT test for a while. I therefore cannot tax it either.
